Volunteers

vols

THIS YEAR WE ARE WORKING TO BUILD A LARGE TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL TAKE ON IMPORTANT ROLES ON THE DAY AND HELP ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL EVENT. OUR VOLUNTEERS OFFER A SMILEY FACE AND MUCH ENCOURAGEMENT TO THE RUNNERS, AS WELL AS PROVIDING IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT THE RUN TO THOSE TAKING PART AND SPECTATING.

Volunteering at a major event such as the Vitality British 10k is an exciting opportunity and we have a variety of roles available, from greeting the runners and spectators arriving from the numerous stations, to handing out medals and goody bags after the race: we’ve got the perfect role for you!

BENEFITS

  • Breakfast will be provided on arrival for those signing in at the volunteer reception. Those who are placed out on the course will receive a packed lunch.
  • All volunteers will receive a T-shirt to wear on race day. This will make sure you are clearly identifiable as a volunteer. We hope you’ll keep the T-shirt as a memento of the day.
  • As a ‘thank you’ we will provide a free place into one of our events within one year

VOLUNTEER ROLES

Course Marshals: Directing runners along the course; perfect for those with a little running experience as they know just what support our participants may need.

Start / Finish Marshals: Directing runners into the timing pens and keeping runners moving after crossing the finish

Rewards Marshals: The really fun bit – congratulating runners at the finish on Whitehall and handing out medals and goody bags!

Information / Arrivals Marshals: Providing information and directions to runners and spectators (e.g. where the nearest café is).

Venue Marshals: Supporting the participant facilities such as the Race Pack Queries desk, Volunteer Reception and ‘queue busting’ as needed.

BRIEFING + RACE WEEKEND

We like to ensure that everyone understands their role, so we will meet around 2 weeks before the race for a group briefing where you can find out about your role and all the key information, such as timings, for the day. The briefing is scheduled for Wednesday 29th June - more details to follow.

As soon as your role is complete, you are free to enjoy the event or head home for a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation.
