Important Travel and Access Information - Sunday 10th July 2016

The Vitality British 10k is returning on Sunday 10th July 2016. This exciting event takes place through the heart of the City of Westminster and expects to attract around 17,000 runners; many of whom will be fundraising for charity, including the event’s 500+ charity partners.

Using the roads of Westminster for the race will cause some changes to usual traffic routes for a limited period on the morning of Sunday 10th July.  In planning this event, every effort is made to minimise the disruption caused due to the road closures. The route has been carefully considered, and we are working in close consultation with the London Borough of Westminster, Transport for London and all emergency services. We are now contacting local residents to provide a copy of the 2016 race route, along with the list of road closures that will be in place.

Roads to be closed, or partially closed, on Sunday 10th July:

Parking suspensions will be in place on the roads above marked with (P), as well as on William IV Street, St James’s Square, Arundel Street and Essex Street. Further information regarding all parking suspensions will be displayed on clear signage in the affected roads, in the week prior to the event.

The race will start at 9.35am and the first roads will close at 6.00am. A dynamic reopening schedule will be operated to ensure that roads are reopened as soon as possible, once runners have completed each section of the route, and when it is safe and feasible to do so. The majority of roads will fully reopen by 2.00pm, with all roads reopened by 3.30pm (unless stated above). Please note that roads neighbouring the route may also be affected by the above closures. For a full list of road closures please refer to the event website

Please do allow extra time for your journey, and where possible, avoid driving in the area during the closure period.  If you do need to drive on the morning of Sunday 10th July, please consider parking on an alternative street on the evening of Saturday 9th July, to enable you to carry out your journey.

To discuss further please get in contact by emailing or calling 0845 458 1412.
