With less than six weeks to go until thousands of eager runners take to the streets of London to #RUNTHECAPITAL, organisers of The Vitality British 10k London Run are pleased to announce that Olympic athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton will be joining participants at the start line as the official race starter on Sunday 10th July!
Speaking of her involvement, Perri said: “As a Londoner, I’m always honoured to be involved in events that take in everything that is great about our capital city! The Vitality British 10k is a great distance that caters for runners of all abilities, with the added bonus of all the iconic sights like Big Ben, Westminster and Trafalgar Square that are sure to give you that extra drive to the finish line! I’m looking forward to seeing all of London’s amazing 10k runners in July!”
Thousands of runners took part in 2015 clocking up over 150 million kilometres between them and this year, race organisers are expecting it to be more popular than ever before. Boasting a new route that now takes in a scenic section along the embankment, and over Westminster Bridge, The Vitality British 10k treats runners to all the iconic London landmarks, unrivalled by any other 10k race!
Speaking for Vitality, title sponsors of the Series, Neville Koopowitz, Vitality CEO, added: “We are delighted that Perri Shakes-Drayton has agreed to start the Vitality British 10K London Run. She will not only help raise the profile of this iconic London race, but her involvement will also provide a fantastic memory for all our runners on the day.”
